Meet Our New Assistant Program Director
Perhaps you have seen a new face around the CLASP sites.
Barbara MacKenzie joined CLASP this fall as the Assistant Program Director. Barbara brings with her a wealth of experience inside and outside the classroom. She holds a Master of Arts in Education degree from Claremont Graduate University and spent over 30 years in the classroom in the Ontario-Montclair School District. Her assignments included teaching K-3rd grade students, training teachers and parents in English as a Second Language teaching techniques, working with physically and learning-disabled students, and teaching in K-6th grade after-school remedial programs. Outside of the classroom she puts her training as a church musician to work accompanying soloists, choirs, and congregations. At CLASP, Barbara has been busy providing materials to tutors to fill in the gaps in their student’s knowledge. Using iReady data, information from teachers, and her amazing know-how, she crafts packets of specific worksheets and games designed to help students in their deficit areas.
We are lucky to have her!
