After School Tutoring
CLASP supports the experiences children have in their classrooms. Friendly volunteers work with students to develop organizational skills, complete weekly homework assignments, and read for pleasure. Volunteer tutors provide homework help at neighborhood sites for 90 minutes each day, two days a week. Transportation is provided to some of our centers. Each session includes homework help, enrichment activities, and a healthy snack.
In fall of 2024, a pilot program began to create a Care Pathway for students, allowing tutors to work with each child on specific academic skills.
Tutors are the backbone of our CLASP programs, serving as mentors and providing a positive relationship that is as important as the academic tutoring.
Enrollment is based on teacher recommendation, parent support and tutor availability. Please keep in mind that we review recommendations from principals and teachers, site balance, and the number of children on the current waiting list when accepting enrollments. Mid-year enrollment is possible as space becomes available. Students will be placed on a wait list if space is not available at a site and parents will be contacted if space becomes available.
If you have a child enrolled in our program, both parents and students should read the Parent information Guide.
